Wave and sea levels conditions for the design of protection structures of a coastal road

Mumbai (India)

Client : Sogreah Gulf

Date of completion : 2019

For the design of protective structures of the new coastal road of Mumbai (India), Globocean has performed a metocean desktop study in order to provide extreme cyclonic waves and surges along the coast.

The following missions were successively performed :

  • Modelling of the offshore cyclonic swell (numerical model WaveWatchIII)

  • Implementation of the wave propagation model (numerical model SWAN)

  • Implementation of the hydrodynamic model (numerical model Telemac2D)

  • Parametric modelling of the cyclonic wind pattern (numerical model of Holland)

  • Atmospheric forcing of the numerical models by the synthetic wind fields and assessment of the extreme cyclonic waves and surges along the coast
